A downloadable game

[Demo temporarily removed pending a new update! Thank you for your patience and we look forward to sharing the new version with you soon ❤]

Part 1 of a fantasy Visual Novel set in the Kingdom of Winter.

Play as a nameable male or female character, and go on a relaxed quest to find a diamond!

Walk in the snow, make a friend,  take over the throne, get married, doom a city, seduce a guard, get thrown in jail, share some hot tea … there are lots of choices and lots of endings.

Please note: this demo is Part 1, which has... none of those endings.  It mainly involves wandering in the snow, and chatting. There are also apples.

Depending on player character and choices, the story is GxB or BxB with a route for both friendship or romance, or you can go questing on your own.

Demo playtime: longest route approx 1 hour (shorter routes available)

Warnings: contains screen shake.

This is a project in progress, but the full game will hopefully contain:

  • part 1 and 2 of the story
  • several endings and a lot more peril
  • additional artwork
  • updated backgrounds for those I didn’t reach in time.

The full game will also be free.

(Note from the Dev: I created this little project mainly to teach myself Ren’py, but decided to expand on it for the jam, with the help of some very talented people who have made it look and sound very beautiful. I hope anyone else with zero programming experience can look at it and see you can learn to make a game in 9 weeks (or less, but that's what this project was) because if I can do it anyone can! ♥)

Hi, I'd love to try this one out, but trying to download gets me this error.

Dear Hybris, I'm terribly sorry you hit this issue, but I think I have hopefully solved it now!

(It seems the build I had uploaded didn't specify to the Itch.io app/launcher what kind of platform it used, but I have made sure the platforms are assigned now.)

From what I've read, the issue is specific to the itch app, so if the error persists, you should still be able to download the game directly from the gamepage in browser (link here).

However, obviously I do want the issue to be fixed properly, so please let me know if it now works for you! I haven't used the app myself before, so I will test it later when I'm back home.

Thank you so much for taking the time to inform me of this, I really appreciate it and I apologise for the hassle it caused.

Best wishes, Cerise

Hello again,

Thank you for helping, I was able to download it this way. :)

Oh I'm so pleased, and thank you for letting me know! I hope you enjoy it, it really is a beginner's project but I'm looking forward to polishing it up for the next update!

I sincerely look forward to seeing more! It was very good, I enjoyed how the duo played off one another!

Oh hi I didn’t expect such a quick reply, that’s so sweet of you to get back to me! I’m really glad you liked their dynamic, and I promise there will be plenty more of their nonsense in the next part.
Feel free to follow me here on Itch or on Twitter if you’d like to be kept updated on the project, and thank you again for the heads up about the App, it was really useful to know. ❤

Such a lovely game so far ^^ The dialogue is fun and some really interesting stuff were set up in the first part. I'm excited to see if I poisoned myself with the stew :D I also love the overall atmosphere, at times it really felt like playing through a folktale (down to the mysterious old lady in the forest!)

Apologies for the slow reply, but thank you so much for your lovely comment! I’m so glad to hear what you said about the atmosphere, that is exactly what I was aiming for! As for what is or isn’t in the stew… Part 2 is still brewing but I’ll keep this page updated with progress... 🍵

Really enjoying this and very much looking forward to the full game! :D

Thank you so much for this kind comment! Work is continuing on Part 2 and we look forward to sharing it with you in the near future! ♥

I loved this so much! Your descriptions are so lovely, and Malik is such a sweetie. More chances to make him blush in act 2, please <3 <3

I LOVE the main character and all her teasing (both out loud and not). The humour is A+ excellent. There was more than one moment where I said a thing and then Alise said it immediately after,  so she's 100% relatable! Gorgeous art and music - these character designs are wonderful! I can't wait for part 2!!! (MORE BLUSHING. AND CAVORTING.)

Thank you so much for this beautiful comment – I am so thrilled you had fun playing Alise, and yes the art and music teams DID do amazing work!

I will work hard to take on your feedback re: blushing and cavorting… I think there will be things you’ll enjoy in Part 2... and actually also some of the moments in the part 2 Friendship route, so keep an eye out for that too! ♥

I really enjoy the storyline so far! There's clearly been a lot of thought put into the world-building, hints for possible character arcs, and the art and music are lovely. I enjoy the bits of humor laced into the writing as well! I think you did a wonderful job of setting up a few mysteries as well. Looking forward to seeing what any future updates may hold! Best wishes.

Thank you so much for your kind comment – I’m so happy you enjoyed it, and yes I was so lucky to work with such talented artists and composers! I really appreciate you picking out things that worked for you, and I’ll hopefully be building on those aspects for the next part!! ♥

I played an early demo of this, I really enjoyed it! Looking forward to playing the full release!

Ah lovely to see you here - thank you so much, you were a great help, and I look forward to sharing the next part!!

Oo, I love the start of this already! The art, the writing, the story - the pacing works quite nicely to both immerse and explain. Malik is very sweet and I'm glad I decided to drag him along. And the MC's gift is very interesting as well. Can't wait to see what you have in store in future updates! I am quite intrigued. ^.^

Oh thank you, I’m so glad you enjoyed it so far! I also really appreciate your feedback as I was worried that the story starts a bit slow, so I’m v happy to hear you had fun traveling with Malik (and I promise more sweet moments and pretty artwork in Part 2)! ♥
